Happy Thursday, kids! Two more days till we're free for the week, and I for one am hoping it gets here sooner rather than later. I'm definitely ready to catch up on some sleep (fingers crossed); my body has been having a rough time getting back on my regular schedule and is stillllllllll under the impression it can stay up till 10:30 or 11 and sleep till between 8 and 9. This leads to a bit of a rude awakening when my alarm goes off at 5, so you'd think it would learn to go to sleep when I want to it (read: somewhere between 8:30 and 9:30), but alas...not the case so far. Fingers crossed I can sleep past 7 on Saturday, but we shall see. Anywho, Thursday means that it's time for another edition of Jessie's fabulous campaign to keep in mind all of the many blessings I have in my life, so thank you for hosting, love! Take some time to head to her site, and check out the other wonderful entries; it never ceases to amaze me how much we really do have to be thankful for :)
...the two toothbrushes in my little glass by my sink. Joe left his, since he had an extra on his base and plans to throw it away before he comes home. It's a wonderful reminder and promise of what's to come and makes me smile every time I see it (not like I'm making extra trips into the bathroom to look or anything...because that would be weird....and we all know I am many things, but weird is certainly not one of them...).
....the cherubs behavior during Stretch and Grow yesterday. Stretch and Grow is a little program that comes to my center every Wednesday, which gives the kids a chance to learn about their muscles (they can actually name most of them at this point, which is really cool...especially when you remember that they're three) and learn different ways to move their bodies through games, dancing, yoga, and more. Yesterday, they were absolutely wonderful, listening to every direction their instructor gave them, following the rules of what they were supposed to be doing, and just being overall good little cherubs. I was an incredibly proud teacher (and also very confused as to what had happened to my usual monkeys....I kid because I am blessed to have a pretty damn good crew these days, but yeah, they went above and beyond yesterday somehow and it was very strange...but very welcome, too).
...the ability and desire to change up my meals more. I had been in a bit of a food rut before the holidays, eating the same thing for most of my meals. Now, I'm really making an effort to try different things and listen to what I want. It's made my eats much more enjoyable, so I hope I can keep it up.
....the fact that I don't have to attend a meeting during lunch today It sounds silly, I know, but my lunch breaks are my time to get out of the center for an hour, stretch my legs, clear my head, and have a snack in peace at my apartment. The days when I don't have the chance to do so are much more difficult mentally, emotionally, physically, etc. My co-teacher gets to go now, since I won't be here after tomorrow, and I really couldn't be happier or more thankful for that one.
....lists. Random, I know, but I like writing down what I have to do and/or get (since I have a horrendous memory). Plus, it makes me feel very accomplished when I get to check/cross/highlight stuff off (how I actually mark it as completed depends on my mood...weird, but true). Type-A and proud of it, people.
....warmer weather and sunshine. It's made it a lot easier to be out and about, and less icy runs are always welcome. I cannot wait till this weekend when it's supposed to be warmer. Lots of time outside, please and thank you.
...this post from this girl. Every time I see a post from her in my google reader, I get incredibly excited. She is insightful, honest, and so inspiring. Check her out now.
...my phone. It lets me keep in touch with everyone I love, and never fails to bring me something that makes me smile and laugh every day.
...hockey being back. Yep, I put it here, and I'm not ashamed in the slightest. I have waited way too long for this, and I am so ridiculously excited for that first puck drop that I can't even fully explain it. So, I'll just say I'm thankful for it, and leave it at that.
Have a terrific Thursday!
What are you thankful for today? Tell me a brag, too! I'm a fan of Holly's PMB...joining up next week :)

so many things i love about this! i think that stretch and grow program sounds awesome - i try to get my kids more into healthy things like eating fruits and vegetables and exercising, but they don't really seem to care (LAME!) so i love that it's starting early with that program. i'm also really proud of you for your food choices! way to go girl :) and the toothbrush thing...well let me just say i totally know what you mean and it makes my heart smile. i keep a few things in tex's apartment in texas and the first time i did it it felt like a huge deal.
ReplyDeleteIt really is cool! I just ignore the fact that they know their muscles, and I don't. And I love that we both understand and are about to end these long distance relationships...bout time we got to be with the boys we love :)
DeleteI totally agree with all these things - there's so much to be thankful for! Hockey's triumphant return is indeed awesome. :) And girl, there's nothing weird about being happy that you get to skip a meeting - one of my favorite quotes is "If you had to identify, in one word, the reason why the human race has not achieved, and never will achieve, its full potential, that word would be "meetings." (Courtesy of Dave Barry, whom I love.) And dude, I totally feel you on the list-making. I have two separate ones going right now, and I feel all accomplished and happy whenever I get to check something off. :) Have a wonderful Thursday, my dear!
ReplyDeleteI love that quote!! It's so freakin true, too! I'm glad I'm not the only one who enjoys lists and hockey...I'm in the best of company in that :)
DeleteI love that you are thankful for Joe's toothbrush. You are too cute and I would feel the same way. Is it weird I am super excited for him to come home to you because I know how happy it makes you? Hehe <3 I also love lists. I think I make some form of list every day whether it's my schedule, things I need to buy, things I need to do, etc. We are normal.
ReplyDeleteThank you love :) This makes my day haha. And you're right, we are normal! Nothing wrong with making lists...makes sure that we accomplish and get what we need to!
DeleteIt is so cute that you are thankful for the toothbrush! And I'd be impressed with 3 year-olds that know their muscles...hell, I probably can't name as many as I should be able to.
ReplyDeleteThank you, hun :) And seriously, it's crazy. They'll randomly say them to me during class, too, which is pretty hilarious.
Deletekind of ironic because I sent that post to chelsie last night. it is one a lot of people should read
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more, darlin
DeleteThat's precious about the toothbrush- it's the little things that keep us going! I remember when Ryan left one of his undershirts in Boston and I slept in it for weeks [I washed it frequently too... I think] :) The stretch and grow program sounds awesome! Watching BL earlier this week made me really think about how important it is to instill healthy habits in children at a young age... And I have numerous lists going all the time, sometimes of the same thing :P
ReplyDeleteMmm, I don't even want to tell you how often I've slept in the t-shirt of Joe's he left (read every night...I wash it once a week...and will continue to wear it till he comes home...yeah officially that girl and completely ok with it ;) ). And yeah, the stretch and grow program is really cool...they love it, too, which is great!
DeleteLove this- so true!:)
ReplyDeleteThanks love :)
DeleteI've totally been feeling some meal inspiration as well! Can't wait to see where that takes me... :)
ReplyDeleteMe either, since you usually post it and then give me new fun meals to try ;)
DeleteHOW DID I MISS THIS UNTIL NOW?!?! I must have gotten distracted at "work" ;)
ReplyDeleteAnyways, yayyy for getting out of that food rut! I know you're going to do awesome with that goal. And that toothbrush. How cute are you?! I think it will help you get through the next couple of months. That and some pretty awesome blend meetups...
Haha that work...it'll get you every time ;) I think you're right...those blend meetups shall be epic!!
DeleteThat's so cute about the toothbrush! And yay for being out of food ruts. I love it when I get really inspired and start cooking a lot of different meals. :D
ReplyDeleteToday I'm thankful for getting a job at my favourite bakery/cafe and for being able to volunteer for my awesome professor!
Thank you :) I'm happy with both of those things myself! And I am so excited for you about the bakery (and the professor volunteering...but a little more about the bakery since I love baked goods)!! That's awesome, and I can't wait to hear how that goes :)
DeleteI love the thougth of Stretch and Grow! I think that it's so important for them to know that at such a young age!
ReplyDeleteI am such a creature of habit when it comes to just about anything, especially my meals. I could eat the same thing everyday and just about do. I love the idea of changing the meals up! :)
It's seriously a cool thing, and I love how the kids love it :) And my goal is to try a new meal once a week, unless I'm traveling or sick! Hoping I can stick to it :)
DeleteWhen I found out that Hockey was back I did the most obnoxious happy dance. I can't help it - I need to watch my Lightning :)
ReplyDeleteI did the most obnoxious happy dance when I found out that hockey was back - I need to watch my lightning :)
ReplyDeleteI jumped up and down on Joe...he was a little less than pleased....I told him to get over it ;)
DeleteI think that Joe's influence has been fabulous in your wanting to vary your meals a bit more. What a great guy!! And obviously not just for that! ;)
ReplyDeleteToo excited for hockey, as well!! It'll be fabulous to spend evenings with my Dad with a game playing in the background. Sigh. It's been a long time coming!! :D
All excellent things to be thankful for! Keep smiling, and keep your focus on the little things that can combine to make a big impact.
I think so too :) And seriously...hockey needs to get back here stat <3
DeleteI am always so happy to read what you are thankful for girl! Honestly it is my favorite thankful posts. I love lists too and cannot wait to get back to them. I am feeling overwhelmed being back from GA right now and have no idea where I need to start to get back on track in terms of getting things done.
