Tuesday Thoughts

Good morning, kids! I don't know about where you are, but here in the burgh it is flipping freezing today (thank heavens my run schedule is MWF...I would have been a whiny icicle if I'd have had to go outside this morning!), so all I want to do is curl up in my fleecy pj pants and a big sweatshirt under my fleecy Pens blanket with a neverending mug of hot tea and chocolate all day...with a book, some tv and movies, and a roaring fire. Sounds nice, doesn't it? Unfortunately, that will not be happening, since I have to go to a little thing called work, which sadly involves me leaving my nice warm (well warmer than outside) apartment, but I guess getting to spend the day cuddling Peanut is okkkkk. Plus, he's usually really warm, so he's like a heating pad that likes to snuggle...win! The cold (and lack of sleep) is putting me in a random thoughts thoughts mood today, so here are some for your perusing pleasure. Feel free to add your own at the bottom ;)

We survived yesterday! It actually turned out really well, which was a relief. Peanut was a sleepy munchkin for most of the morning and afternoon, which let Peanut's older brother (shall we call him "Big Kid" since that's what he frequently reminds me he is? methinks, yes, so Big Kid it is) and I do lots of fun things like make a cotton ball snowman, make paper snowflakes, practice tracing "S" for snow, snowman, and snowflake (it was snowing outside yesterday, so we brought the weather in for the day), and race cars around the living room, while Peanut slept right next to us. Don't ask me how, but he slept through it all. Oh, and then both boys fell asleep AT THE SAME TIME for over an hour, so I got dishes AND laundry done AND still had time to empty my google reader, catch up on emails and comments, AND start today's post. Productive right? Guess who wanted to crash when she got home last night? This girl....and she did so as soon as she could!

Running in the snow really is my favorite way to do it if it can't be sunny. This thought kept replaying itself in my head during my run yesterday morning when it was snowing like all get out. It's so beautiful and peaceful, especially at 6:00 in the morning, and it makes everything look fresh and clean. Plus, it's really fun to try and catch flakes on my tongue every now and then. And the child, who needs constant entertainment, rears her face again!

I did my laundry in two separate loads this weekend instead of one gianormous (yep it's a word) one, and I'm still really proud of myself. My mum was, too, since I made sure to call and tell her because she always yells at me for doing a big one. Growing up, kids...for this week anyway.

I am incredibly excited to try out my first yoga class tonight, but I sincerely hope the studio is well heated. I suspect this will, in fact, be the case, but I'm also afraid that I'm going to freeze in my new $3 Target short sleeved dry fit shirt and cropped pants during the class. Fingers crossed, friends. I don't do cold or hot or any other temperature other than comfortable well.

$3! I thought it was cute and comfy! Yes, I'm still excited!

Watching babies sleep is really entertaining. Peanut will do all kinds of crazy things while he out, including smile, laugh, make random sounds, smack himself in the face, smack me in the face if I'm holding him, and flail all over the place. Actually, that's probably what most of us (myself included) do while we are sleeping...I guarantee, however, it's a lot cuter on a baby.

I finished Gossip Girl on Sunday and now don't know what to watch/do with my time. New show recommendations stat! Oh, and I loved B+C ending up together, but D+S just seemed like overkill to me. Anyone else?

My clothes are starting to fit the way they are supposed to...and I'm not freaking out for the first time ever. I'm not completely celebrating it (if I'm being completely honest), but I'm not going to change it either, and I'm focusing on the memories of how/why they're fitting now instead and the fact that I'm running faster/further without trying, which helps a lot. Progress.

You should definitely make sure to check out Sloane's FreEDom From Perfection post and contributors today. They're always beautifully written, honest, and inspiring, and I look forward to reading them each week.

Lex posted this on Saturday in honor of the Pens game, and I'm still giggling. I love them. That's all I can say.

Thinking about combining this, this, parts of this, and some yoga for my workout this morning. They'll definitely get my bum moving on this ice cold morning. We shall see.

Beautiful thought for the day...

True story.

Have a terrific Tuesday!

What are you thinking about right now? Cutest/cheapest clothing find of yours recently? Favorite running conditions? Have you ever watched a baby sleep?

  1. I love that last quote and thought for the day. It is so hard to believe we deserve to be happy. I am thinking about how all of you girls a re posting such beautiful words and making me even giddier for the start classes today. I had a rough couple days these past two days and I am finally feeling like myself again. So you are crazy! I don't know if I will ever run in the snow. I am a wimp when it comes to cold and am perfectly happy on the treadmill this winter! I wish I could see you catching snowflakes though!

  3. There are few things cuter than a sleeping baby. And I can never, ever run in the snow, rain or anything even remotely cold. I'm definitely a warm-season exerciser!

    1. Hahaha I'm almost the opposite! I would much rather run in the snow than the heat...but I'm also a whiny baby about sweating and not being able to breath in the humidity ;)

  4. YOGA CLASS!!!!!! Have so much fun!! I'm so excited for you!

Also I NEED to finish GG. I've only watched one episode of this season which is unheard of for me! As far as shows to get into--Mad Men. Or Entourage (its old, but fabulous, and the old seasons are awesome). I have to catch up on this week's HIMYM! I've missed it twice in a row (gasp).

Thanks for the shoutout, and have a wonderful day!

  7. I'm in love with the mint jeans I bought, but I am a HUGE fan of anything from target. Their workout clothes are great and SOOO much more affordable than going to a sporting goods store! Have fun at yoga!! :)

  8. I have to say I get pretty chilly in a normal yoga class, I always wear a long sleeve shirt at least but if it is heated, that is another story. the weather is crazy cold today and tomorrow, I have to say even this hard core girl will most likely be running indoors both days. keep embracing the changes, don't stop!

    1. Embrace I am! And I'm also changing my running day from Wed to Thurs since tomorrow is supposed to be below zero when I run...no thank you!

  9. I love that quote - it's so true! I love that you're gradually adjusting to and becoming comfortable with these changes, because, as the quote above notes, you really do deserve a happy life. I'm proud of you, my dear!

And girl, I hear you on not wanting to venture outside in this frigid weather. My entire walk to work from the Metro was fueled by me repeating "Hot beverage, hot beverage, hot beverage" over and over in my head for 15 minutes. I can't even tell you how much I'm not looking forward to the walk back. :-/
